What is 710 Day? Celebrate OIL Day

If you’re a fan of 420, you’re gonna love 710. It's the other officially-unofficial “high” holiday that celebrates cannabis culture. 710, also known as "National Oil Day" or "National Dab Day," is celebrated on July 10th each year.

If you're wondering why it's called "OIL" day, all you have to do is rotate the number 710 upside down on a phone or calculator to see that it looks a lot like "OIL." If 420 is a day for celebrating cannabis flower, then 710 is a day for celebrating cannabis concentrates, including wax, budder, shatter, sauce, rosin, resin, and diamonds. To consume those products, you'll need a dab rig, dab pen, or vaporizer that's concentrate compatible. If you want to skip some of the prep and cleanup, you could also go for a concentrate vape cart. As the name implies, concentrates tend to have highly concentrated amounts of THCA, so dose accordingly.

While the origin of the 710 holiday is a little hazy, people have traced it back to the rapper TaskRok in 2011. He wanted to create a holiday for dabbers, and proposed 7/10 as a date for "oil." You can see references in his 2011 album with Linus Stubbs, The Movement, in tracks like "Boil that Oil" and "7:10." In the years since, the date has grown in popularity, and you can find organized events that range from get-togethers to judged competitions.

At PAX, we don’t need much of a reason to celebrate cannabis. So, we’re all in on doing our part to make 710 a big deal. Every year we hold a 710 Sale, and it’s a great time to stock up or to just upgrade your stash either online or at the dispensary. Happy 710!
